GUGU NDLOVU

Gugu Tracy Ndlovu attained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Pathology (Audiology) and postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She pursued an interest in the teaching profession and qualified with 120-hours teaching English as a foreign language from the TEFL Academy.

Gugu previously occupied posts as a specialist Audiologist at Ngwelezana Hospital, Madadeni Hospital and Clairwood Hospital in the Department of Health, where she carried out hearing assessments and screenings, fitted hearing aids, retubed ear moulds and held hearing awareness campaigns. While working at Clairwood Hospital, Gugu was in charge of supervising a junior audiologist and ran the Audiology department. As part of her duties, she assisted in the paediatric clinic and Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) unit. Working on a part-time basis as a home interventionist at the University of the Witwatersrand in the Deaf studies unit, she had the opportunity of providing family support, visiting homes, assisting with school placement and empowering parents with deaf children.

Gugu now works as a senior audiologist in her own company, where she provides hearing screening, assessment, hearing aid evaluation, hearing aid fittings and aural rehabilitation services. In addition to running her company, Gugu works at the Occupational Health Clinic with Dr Singh, initiating hearing screenings for people working in an industrial setting and carrying out diagnostic audiometry.

Gugu Ndlovu offers educational enlightenment through CPD Audiology talks and yearly training activities for healthcare professionals on the Calabash website. She is also a registered life coach and is recognised as a non-EEA Audiologist by the Irish department of Health to work and perform audiological duties in Ireland (Europe).
